ABOUT ETHOS DESIGN & CONTRACTING STORY

I loved the word ETHOS as it means “Of Distinctive Spirit and Character”. Our team would like to think that what we create will emulate that statement for your home or office or restaurant or....

 My background in creativity began as a little girl going to the hardware store with my father and learning how to use a tape measure. I have spent years in the film business working in the set decorating department.. an incredible avenue to learn so many ways to make something unique. Lots of innovative ideas to do the same thing! However, the finite use of the sets made me think how I wanted to make something longer lasting.. a place people loved coming home to... an office they want to be in. 

With impulsive encouragement an art director friend and I drove to Aspen, CO in 1988 and opened a retail showroom - Shadow Mountain Interiors. We brought a unique look of Mexican painted furniture and cowboy inspired southwest decor to the area. We designed and custom made furniture, imported textiles from Guatemala and showcased local pottery. 

After a short stint back in LA, I moved to NY in 1999, putting the film industry on hold. Working back in interior design,  I worked with clients in Long Island, Manhattan, and Connecticut.

I’ve been back in Los Angeles since 2013 working right back into the film business…I wanted to broaden my horizons of interior design by getting a contracting license.  I really enjoy space assessment! Opening a wall, raising the ceiling, creating a  new staircase.. even a little change can make an instant improvement - I love the entire process of how it all comes together. Adding the right wall color or chandelier makes it magic. Through all the choices and decisions, budget constraints, it all makes sense and the most satisfying part is when the client is thrilled to call their place THEIRS.
